CORe is part of Flinders University Animal House, School of Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences, Animal Facilities.
The activities of the Comparative Orthopaedic Research Facility are led by Associate Professor John Field, an accomplished North American trained Veterinary surgeon and researcher. Associate Professor Field is currently a member of the Faculty of Health at Flinders University. Users of the CORe’s Research Facility must meet the requirements of the University’s Animal Welfare Committee before experimental work commences and during all phases of the research.
The CORe is managed by Ray Yates, Manager, Animal House, School of Medicine. The Animal House in the School of Medicine is responsible for animals held for experimental research by staff at Flinders University and Flinders Medical Centre. The University monitors the operation of the Animal Houses through the Animal Welfare Committee. All research projects involving the use of animals are submitted to the Animal Welfare Committee for approval prior to the commencement of the project. The Animal House operates in accordance with the SA Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and with the Australian Code of Practice for the Care and Use of Animals for Scientific Purposes, 2004.
